A Literary Voyage on DEAR Day

In collaboration with the Department of Education’s visionary approach to education, Malvar Senior High School recently launched the Drop Everything And Read (DEAR) day as part of the implementation of Catch-Up Fridays in accordance to the adoption of the National Learning Recovery Plan (NLRP). This initiative aims to not only enhance academic skills but also intensify values, health, and peace education.

On the first day of the Drop Everything And Read (DEAR) program, students embarked on a literary adventure, bringing a diverse array of books that reflected their individual interests.

The silent reading sessions created a contemplative atmosphere, fostering a sense of introspection and mindfulness among the students

Throughout, the teacher facilitated and guided the learners, fostering an environment where the love for reading is observed. This program not only celebrated the joy of reading but also encouraged students to explore genres beyond their academic curriculum.

The mix of literature brought by the students added a vibrant touch to the classroom, showcasing their diverse interests. Photographs captured the essence of the day, immortalizing the students engrossed in their chosen books. The following pages serves as a testament to the success of the first day of the 3-day DEAR program, promising more literary journeys in the Fridays to come throughout January 2024. Acting as a facilitator and guide, the teacher ensured that the DEAR day provided more than just a break from routine lessons—it became a platform to instill essential values and promote health and peace education

As Malvar Senior High School continues to prioritize the holistic development of its students, the DEAR day initiative stands out as a commendable effort in nurturing a lifelong love for reading. With two more Fridays to go, the school anticipates further exploration of literary worlds and the continued growth of its vibrant reading community.
