Gender and Development Seminar 2024: Empowering Educators at Malvar Senior High School

Malvar, Philippines – July 17, 2024 – The Gender and Development Seminar 2024, held at Malvar Senior High School, brought together teachers from various disciplines to engage in meaningful discussions and activities aimed at promoting gender equality and development. The seminar included both women and men educators, reflecting the inclusive spirit of the event.

The seminar commenced with opening remarks by Dr. Catherine Gonzales, the esteemed School Principal 2, who set the tone for the day’s activities with an inspiring speech on the importance of gender and development in education.


The event featured a lineup of distinguished speakers:

  • Atty. Fe De Villa delivered an insightful presentation on the Safe Spaces Act, emphasizing the importance of creating safe and inclusive environments for all.

  • Atty. Karen M. Bacilles discussed the Women in Development and Nation Building Act (RA 7192), highlighting the critical role of women in national development.


  • Dr. Delia Tagle, a Municipal Councilor, captivated the audience with her talk on Women and Health. She provided a comprehensive understanding of women’s health, emotions, and genetics, and addressed various reproductive health concerns raised by the teachers.


The seminar was expertly hosted by Jenny Vieve Oamil, who ensured the smooth flow of the program and engaged the audience throughout the event.


Following the seminar, participants enjoyed team-building activities at Laiya Adventure Park. The activities fostered camaraderie and teamwork among the educators, leaving them feeling happy and rejuvenated.
