SHS in Malvar Tapped to Serve as an Evacuation Center due to Taal Eruption

Following the phreatic eruption of Taal Volcano last January 12, Senior High School in Malvar caters evacuees from the nearby towns affected by the eruption, January 16.


The first batch of evacuees moved to Senior High School in Malvar at around 2:00 PM. Mr. Perry Taborda, the EC focal person said, "We are expecting that Senior High will be one of the evacuation centers prior to this event", such expectation help the institution to prepare the classrooms.


191 families with a total of 141 individuals evacuated.


Once the move-in started, teachers and personnel initiated in-kind donations such as relief goods, drinking waters, and things for personal hygiene such as towels, diapers and toiletries from private donors. SHSM wants to express sincere appreciation for the generosity of the following people in supporting the relief assistance:

10. Krisha Mae Martin and

11. Vince Daniel Lim from Taguig.


It is expected that more evacuees will come in the following days and the number of in-kind donations are greatly needed. Announcements are posted online for people to know the situation (seen below).
